Create an IP-based Exam

This guide explains the procedure for creating an IP-based exam in the system.

You can control where students take exams. Allowing access outside the university premises means students can attempt exams from anywhere. To prevent this, restrict access to specific locations (building, floor, room, lab) so exams can only be taken there.

  • In Locations, you can “Allow Exam Access Outside University Premises”
  • By default, “Yes” is selected, which means you are “allowing” students outside of the university premises to take the exam.
  • If you choose “No”, you need to read the “Important Notice” carefully.
  • By selecting “No,” you are creating an “IP-based Exam”.
  • Here, you need to “Add Exam Room” and “Manage IPs” so that any student outside of the selected “Rooms” cannot take the exam.
  • Click “Add Exam Room” to choose the rooms and strict students so that they can only take exams in those specific areas.
  • Here you will find room allocation in the following hierarchy:

    1. College
    2. Building
    3. Rooms
    4. Floor
  • Select the “College”, then the “Building”. After “Rooms”, and then “Floors.

  • Your selected rooms will provide you with the options of “Manage Room Students”, “Manage Room Managers”, and “Unassign Room”.

Now, let’s see how you can manage IPs and restrict students to only take the exam in a specified location.

How to Manage IPs?

  • From the home page, click on “Settings”, and then click on “Manage Static IPs”
  • Here, you can give names to the locations you want to add. The tabs under “Location Title” have all the locations that you will add.
  • Besides, you can “Edit”, “Delete”, or “Manage IP” easily.
  • If you click on the “Edit” sign, you can edit the location title. “Cancel”, or “Save” it easily.
  • If you click on “Manage IPs”, you can add a “Static IP” number. You can “Clear”, or “Save” it.
  • If you want to add a new location, hop on to the “Add Location” button on the extreme right side, and add a new location.

The steps outlined above illustrate how to create an IP-based exam within the system.

  • After setting locations, you are now on the “Exam Settings” phase.
  • Here, you can check boxes to tailor the exam settings.
  • Each section can be enabled by selecting it or left unchecked if you don’t wish to use it.
  • After “Proctor Management”, now comes scheduling the exam.
  • Here it includes “Time Zone”, “Availability Based Exam”, “Conduction Date”, “Start Time”, “Duration (min)”, “Time for students to join after exam starts (min)”, and “Exam Upload Time”.
  • If you want to schedule the exam based on the availability of students, you need to check the box for “Availability Based Exam.”
  • You need to specify the “Start Date”, “Start Time”, “End Date”, “End Time”, “Duration (min), and “Exam Upload Time”
  • After scheduling the exam, it’s time to “Save” it. Saving the exam is the last phase of exam creation.
  • When you click on “Save”, a confirmation pop-up appears asking, “Are you sure you want to save the exam?”
  • By clicking “Yes”, a success message appears at the top right, indicating that the exam has been saved successfully.

We have just created a single, standard (classical) exam. Now, we will see how to create a single, standard (equivalent) exam.
